Ok you got me. It's just a laser pointer. But you have to admit they're pretty cool. With enough power you can get a beam of light to travel for miles without fading out into oblivion. And up close, it's bright enough and fine enough to write on desks apparently*.*Credit for this fine penmanship goes to Andrew Hall.
