Blue lights are awesome.

Despite my previous, hate filled rant about blue lights, I have to give credit where credit is due. When I need to chill out after a long, LONG day of "Lighting Concepts and Design" the first thing I do is go into my bedroom, turn off all the annoying incandescent lights, and turn on my pretty blue lava lamp. I'll lie down and just mellow out. It works wonders. Just the cool blue pool of light filling my room is so relaxing. Especially since I'm not looking directly at the damn light source. So yea. Blue lights have their benefits beyond marking great sales at K-Mart.

Blue lights are the devil.

Driving down some road in Orlando I cant pronounce I drive by a little strip mall. In this strip mall, between a Gamestop and a Smoothie King, is a Vision Care place. Cant remember the exact name, but is was something boring. Like "Eye Care" or "Vision Care" or "Eyes See You" or something stupid like that. Anyway, it was a good a75 yards from the road. I looked and the sign and I thought, "Clever girl." The lit up sign over their door was made of large block lettering in a bright shade of blue. I could not for the life of me focus on that damn sign. My eyes just refused to make it happen. After getting a wee bit pissed off I thought to myself, "You jerks did that on purpose." I remember never being able to focus on blue light. Just blue. Like it was some demon color sent to the human realm to annoy me. "The eye care places must know this." I thought. What better way to get customers to come to a vision care place than to make them think their eyes are going to crap. Clever girl indeed.
Lighting. Lighting. Lightning! Lighting via lightning! I like that Idea. The noise may be a problem though. I remember looking outside on a sunny day and seeing a lightning storm. Sunny lightning storms. How odd. Only in Florida. But the lightning was still bright enough to illuminate the already sunlit world. Bright, bright stuff. If only there was a way to capture lightning and use it for a free light source. I need a mason jar, a key, and a kite. And a sexy powdered wig.

So I have to start a lighting blog.

For my 13th month at Full Sail University I'm taking a wonderful class know as "Lighting Concepts and Design" Looks like it should be quite interesting. One of our ongoing assignments is to keep a daily "lighting journal", which is essentially just a daily blog post about lighting in the real world that catches our eye. So here we go. Day 1.
